Spindeep Session 37
I’m the co-founder of Spinout Production….
The name “Spinout” was derived from the spinoff DJ sessions which I went to learn the basics of mixing and Djing using records/vinyl in 2002 at Rosebank mall Shop called “milky way Cafe” from then every record I bought I used to mark it “Spinout” before we even decided to open the company Spinout Production
Taking you back how I started being a DJ😊
I started following my love for music as a DJ in the year 2001, inspired by the pioneers of music like DJ Monde , Thulani alex “nomarena” & DJ Fresh.
I was a cricketer for more than 10 years since primary school then music stole my heart. I started being a DJ in 2003 playing with a cassette deck and a CD player and that’s when I started falling in love with this thing called HOUSE MUSIC.
I started djing with my friend called Motsiri (Mathews Mailula) we where using CD deck and a tape deck with a 2 channel mixer back then and moved to using a PC djing with atomix software For the love of music.
We where just djing for fun then one day we got our first gig, we where new in the music industry we could not even charge a decent amount..
We changed R50/hour for our first ever gig since then we never looked back…
We started investing in our craft using our school pocket money since we where in high school, we bought our first level entry turn table/record player “iron belt-drive turn table using self made speakers.
sometimes we took home theater speakers turn them in tweeters using high frequency capacitor because we couldn’t afford to buy professional dj gear and we always burned tweeters every gig we got……
2003 thats when we decided to enroll for DJ courses at the “milky lane Cafe in Rosebank”
Then late 2005 I meet with Vhutshilo Tshitangano who is now a business partner through a brother of mine Tshepo
He was seeing the potential and the love I had for music
he asked me a question how much do I think I could make for a weekend by Djing?
I responded R800/per week…
Then he decided to buy professional DJ for us it was x2 15″hybrid monitors and a 18″ bass bin..
From then every gig we made invested the money onto building the sound… By laybuying amps and other stuff needed to provide services to people…
In 2006 I bought my first record at the SAMC (South African Music Conference) which was Frank Roger’s EP – When Animals Manifest.
Then 2008 I went to enroll for a Sound Engineering course at Pshyco Acoustics T/A sound of sounds. That’s where my mind was blown into the Entertainment industry
I started making friends in the music industry, some are well known Producers/Dj and well established into the industry.
2009 we officially decided to register a company together with Vhutshilo. That’s when we decided to make a Spinout an official company and started producing music as well with my stage name :Nkhalisto and Dub Natives
DUB NATIVES Is partnership , together with my duo partner Amukelani Manganyi , we produce and remix songs.
Produced songs like DUB NATIVES feat. Tsholofelo – I’m in love with, which incl point 5 remix and other songs which are available at Traxsource. “
As Nkhalisto i produced my first EP called Nkhalisto – Spiritual dance which is available on Traxsource and was released under binaar records
